By bridging the gap between climate science, conservation and policy, Adapt Land&Sea aims to help biodiversity thrive amid rapid environmental change.
Developed in collaboration with scientists, conservationists, policymakers and local communities, the platform provides a suite of practical resources to protect ecosystems and safeguard native species.
Adapt Land&Sea builds on the success of its sister site, CoastAdapt, extending its engagement-driven approach to deliver tailored guidance for the land and sea management sector.
Adapt Land&Sea has been designed to help all Australian’s wanting to take action to help our natural environment cope with climate change. Adapt Land&Sea is an initiative developed under Round 2 of the National Environmental Science Program (NESP). Led by the Climate Systems hub, it represents a collaborative effort across the NESP hubs, uniting expertise in climate science, resilient landscapes, marine and coastal ecosystems and sustainable communities.
The National Environmental Science Program is committed to combining scientific research with Traditional Knowledge to support the stewardship of Australia’s environment. Through strong partnerships with Traditional Owners, government, community, and industry, the program focuses on delivering meaningful, on-ground outcomes that promote environmental sustainability and resilience.
Adapt Land&Sea is for anyone wanting to take action to help Australia’s natural environments thrive into the future. Adapt Land&Sea recognises that thriving will mean different things to different people, shaped by the diverse values and connections individuals and communities hold with nature.
Adapt Land&Sea also recognises that the future will not look the same as the present. As the climate continues to change, adaptation will require embracing significant transformation – of landscapes, ecosystems and the ways we manage and relate to them.

AdaptLog is an online, searchable repository of conservation interventions for climate adaptation. It has been designed to help you access and understand information on a wide range of adaptation options. AdaptLog includes many instances of novel and transformative approaches to conservation under rapid climate change. By collating these interventions, it hopes to facilitate learning between practitioners, and seed productive collaborations.
CoastAdapt is an information delivery and decision support framework for anyone with an interest in Australia’s coast, the risks it faces from climate change and sea-level rise, and what can be done to respond to those risks.
There are a number of consultancies that offer expertise in climate risk assessments and strategies to help build resilience.
